Cultural Equity Award: Matthew Kaufmann and the SMART Students

The 2020 Kentucky High School Teacher of the Year, Matthew Kaufmann has been a public school educator in KY since 2007. His pedagogy revolves around using the intersection of the arts for personal and social transformation. He was one of the 40+ public school educators to run for office in 2018, championing public education and the truth that our Democracy will only work for us if we work for it. Congratulations to Matthew and a cohort of his students, “The SMART Students”, for receiving the Awards in the Arts Cultural Equity Award!
