“You know it’s someone in a suit, but you kind of just take it as something more than that and want to just… hug the guy!”

– Shaun, Smoketown workshop participant

CONNECT is Bernheim Forest’s annual sun-up to sun-down event, bringing over 2,000 people together to celebrate art, science and nature. For its 10th anniversary, Berhneim brought the forest to life with giant grass men costumes and wearable natural art. International artist Ashley Peevor is the mastermind behind the breathtaking costumes made of live, growing grass.

Thanks to the support of Imagine Greater Louisville 2020, Peevor led grass-art workshops in Smoketown prior to CONNECT. Support also helped provide materials for the surreal costumes and transport neighborhood residents forty minutes north to see their work come to life at the festival.

Applications for Imagine Greater Louisville 2020 are open now through October 31, 2018. Learn more by clicking here.
