Fund for the Arts Culinary Initiative Strategic Relief Fund

In partnership with Ashbourne Farms and through the generous support of Austin & Janie Musselman, Fund for the Arts Culinary Initiative is launching a Strategic Relief Fund in response to the economic fallout from COVID-19. The Fund will focus support on two objectives: 1) supporting the basic needs of our culinary artists community, and 2) providing relief funds to culinary institutions that have been a pillar to our community.

Basic Needs Grants:

The LEE Initiative – has turned restaurants in Louisville and Lexington into relief centers with local chefs for any restaurant worker who has been laid off or has had a significant reduction in hours and/or pay.  We are offering help for those in need of food and supplies. Each night, they pack hundreds of to-go meals that people can take home.

Apron –  provide temporary, limited financial relief to professional food and beverage industry workers in the Louisville, KY metro area who work at locally owned establishments and who are experiencing financial distress

Restaurant Relief Grants:

The James Beard Foundation Food and Beverage Industry Relief Fund – The purpose of the James Beard Foundation Food and Beverage Industry Relief Fund is to provide critical financial assistance to small, independent restaurants that, due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) national disaster, have an immediate need for funds to pay set operating expenses and keep from going out of business.

Fund for the Arts Culinary Initiative Strategic Restaurant Relief:

The relief fund will target financial support to strategic culinary institutions that have been pillars to the local Louisville and Kentucky community. Grantees will be chosen from remaining unfunded local applicants to the James Beard Foundation’s relief efforts and/or strategic culinary institutions within the community with the greatest need. Grants will be based off of the JBF Relief Applications and in $15k amounts, unless donor advised or restricted to amounts and/or institutions.

To apply for funding from the Fund for the Arts Culinary Initiative Restaurant Relief Fund, you must submit an application by 11:59 pm EST, May 4, 2020. Grants will be made as funding is available.
