We want to help you make it happen!

Are you an artist or an organization hosting a free, arts-related gathering in your community? We’ve got a grant for that! The Community Event Mini-Grant supports arts organizations, businesses, neighborhood associations, individual artists, groups of artists, non-arts nonprofits, and community-based organizations who need some support with project expenses associated with presenting multi-disciplinary, multi-generational, FREE gatherings with arts components in communities.

At the core of the Arts in Neighborhoods initiative is the big idea that our neighborhoods are rich, vibrant communities where people play, work, and create. We know there are so many incredible artists and arts organizations in our Great Louisville neighborhoods that want to engage their communities with an event but need some financial boost in order to make it happen.

Enter: the Community Event Mini-Grant! Whether you want to throw a big block party, facilitate a free dance class at your local community center, teach an all-day plein air painting workshop at the park down the street, or even host a neighborhood battle of the bands, the Fund wants to help make your vision a reality with mini-grants from $500 – $5000. You don’t need to be a non-profit arts organization to apply for this mini-grant—although our 501c3 friends are more than welcome to apply!—you just need to be passionate about creating amazing arts experiences for your community.

At the Fund for the Arts, we believe that art is a right, not a privilege, because art is a fundamental expression of the human condition. We also believe that we are ALL artists, interacting with and creating art every day, and that you should never have to go further than your own neighborhood to be a part of a vibrant arts community.

If you’ve been waiting for seed funds to get your dream neighborhood arts event off the ground, we hope you won’t wait much longer! This rolling mini-grant is open now, and we want to make the application and report process as accessible as possible. Our Community Investment & Support team is available via email and virtual office hours to answer all your questions, plus a recorded information session about the grant to offer a roadmap. It is our hope that this process is stress-free and efficient—after all, you have an awesome event to plan!
