It was wonderful visiting with the conductors of the Louisville Youth Orchestra last week and meeting just a few of the more than 350 students who auditioned for the program.  No one is ever turned away at the Louisville Youth Orchestra for not being able to afford the tuition. It was simply music to my ears listening to these young musicians warming up in the black box theatre at Louisville Collegiate School.  I was nervous and excited for each and every one of them!

Let me tell you about just one of the young people I met. Louisville native Rick Tong has a family owned custom cabinet business here in town.  And he brought his son, Cole, to audition for the orchestra.  You see, Cole has a passion for music. He is a performer.  And he doesn’t play just one instrument, he plays five!  So what does Coldplay? Oh wait, I mean what does Cole play? That’s what I want to know.  And if you can email me the correct answer to that question, you can win 2 tickets to the November 24th Louisville Youth Orchestra Concert at the Brown Theatre!

Watch our video blog below, hear the beautiful chaos of a room full of anxious young auditioners, and meet one of the outstanding LYO Conductors!
