Through the Delta Dental Making Smiles Happen® Arts in Education Initiative students will receive impactful Arts in Education programs
Bowling Green, KY (March 7, 2017) In partnership with Delta Dental of Kentucky and Fund for the Arts, $90,000 has been granted to 89 schools in Eastern and Western Kentucky in the second year of The Delta Dental Making Smiles Happen® Arts in Education Initiative. This grant creates an estimated 24,960 arts experiences for students in 40 Western and Eastern Kentucky counties in 2017.
In November 2016, Delta Dental of Kentucky announced a $100,000 donation to Fund for the Arts to create The Delta Dental Making Smiles Happen® Arts in Education Initiative. The goal of this initiative is to create arts experiences for students of all grade levels in Southeastern and Western Kentucky. Each program is connected to the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s core education content and is a complement to current student curriculum. Programming is provided by Fund for the Arts Cultural Partners.
“Delta Dental has a long history with Fund for the Arts that dates back to 1992. Our commitment to the arts community will continue because we believe that the arts are a viable and essential tool to improve the overall health of Kentucky kids,” said Delta Dental of Kentucky COO and Fund for the Arts Board Member, Tammy York-Day. “We are proud to support the efforts of Fund for the Arts to create a better tomorrow for Louisville, by building the foundation today. Education is the key to unlock our children’s potential and Delta Dental is helping open that door to success.”
The Delta Dental Making Smiles Happen® Arts in Education Initiative allows Fund for the Arts to broaden its reach by serving constituents across the Commonwealth. Through Delta Dental’s Making Smiles Happen® commitment, Fund for the Arts will be able to reach an additional 12,000 children in 100 classrooms throughout the Commonwealth.
“Fund for the Arts is able to take a major step in bringing transformative Arts in education experiences outside of the Louisville area through the generosity of Delta Dental of Kentucky, said Christen Boone, Fund for the Arts President and CEO. “The Delta Dental Making Smiles Happen® Arts in Education Initiative gives Cultural Providers the opportunity to expand their impact in Eastern & Western Kentucky in a meaningful way. We’re grateful to Delta Dental of Kentucky for helping us inspire student success across the Commonwealth of Kentucky through the arts.”
“We’re grateful for this investment in the Southeastern Kentucky region. The Fund for the Arts and Delta Dental of Kentucky are providing wonderful opportunities for our schools and students to experience the arts,” said Phil Osborne, SOAR Tourism, Arts and Heritage Committee Chair.
