Statement on COVID-19 Impact on Greater Louisville
The Fund for the Arts is carefully following the developing coronavirus (COVID-19) and its effect on our community and our cultural sector.
At this time, we are canceling all of our events scheduled for the next two weeks. Our senior leadership is meeting regularly to ensure we are adhering to recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control, our local leaders, as well as Governors Andy Beshear and Eric Holcomb.
We will announce any additional program or operational changes through our regular channels, including our website, social media platforms, and email distribution lists.
The Fund for the Arts’ annual campaign is still in force, albeit virtually right now, to maintain support for our local arts and culture sector. Also, we are working aggressively to identify new funding opportunities and help raise emergency funds necessary to address the critical need caused by the sector-wide closures. We have created a Cultural Task Force in partnership with The Arts and Culture Alliance. We are also actively coordinating advocacy efforts with our elected officials on the local, state, and federal levels.
We respect the decisions being made by our local arts partners who, out of an abundance of caution, are diligently working to protect the safety and interests of their employees, patrons, and our community.
If you are holding a ticket to any arts performance that has been canceled or postponed due to the coronavirus, please consider donating the cost of your ticket to the organization. Community arts organizations live on earned revenue and philanthropy. The jobs and livelihoods of thousands of our friends, family members, and colleagues are at stake.
If you are not personally affected by a cancellation, we still urge you to make a donation.
As we enter a time of social-distancing and uncertainty, we will look to the arts for inspiration and comfort in new ways, and the arts will need our support more than ever.
Please make a gift today.
