LOUISVILLE, KY – (July 27, 2023) Dare to Care and Fund for the Arts are working together to find local culinary talent passionate about feeding members of the Louisville community in need of a delicious meal. The winners will be selected by representatives from Dare to Care based on their passion for the community, ingenuity in the kitchen, and ability to rise to a challenge. The application process is now open.

The winning chefs get to work up to fifteen shifts in the Dare to Care Community Kitchen, working alongside a team of kitchen staff and volunteers to develop 1400 meals for hungry neighbors. Each shift is four hours and will pay $200 per shift. All recipes will be developed based on ingredients donated to the kitchen, with a small stipend for tools and special ingredients, so creativity is an absolute necessity for anyone considering applying.

“As a chef, there are few things better than practicing my art, creating mea ls for others to enjoy.  There is something very special about the expression on a guest’s face as they take their first bite,” Executive Chef Teresa White said. “It never gets old! I know many chefs feel the same way.  Louisville is such a foodie town, with so many talented culinarians. I can’t think of a more meaningful way to share our craft than with our neighbors in need, serving not just food, but hope…maybe even joy! I can’t wait to experience the expression of your art, your craft, here in our beautiful kitchen in the Parkland neighborhood!”

“The Fund might not be the first place you think of when considering culinary arts, but creating delicious, healthy meals for your community is more than a skill, it’s an artistic calling,” Fund for the Arts President and CEO Andre Kimo Stone Guess said. “We look forward to supporting a passionate culinary artist in this endeavor, and are excited to partner with Dare to Care in the critical work that they do here in Louisville.”

This opportunity is only open to residents of the Greater Louisville region ages 18 and up. Those interested in applying should complete the following form: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2RQG2WR
