Louisville Metro Parks and Recreation once again welcomes children to its community centers for special winter break programs. A full schedule of activities is planned, designed to keep children engaged in positive and educational play during this out of school time, including arts and crafts, music, field trips, fitness, table games, swimming, dance, basketball tournaments, and much more.

New this year is a partnership with the Fund for the Arts, which will bring a host of arts and performance classes to the community centers for kids ages 6–14. Artists from organizations such as the Louisville Ballet, Stage One, River City Drum Corps, Walden Theatre, Blue Apple Players, and Safiyyah Dance will lead workshops in music, dance, and the visual arts.

“Our entire community is focusing increased attention on out-of-school time because it is so important to keep our young people engaged, motivated and moving forward,” Mayor Greg Fischer said. “These creative activities will be a great addition to the options available for youth over the holiday break.”
Metro Parks director Mike Heitz added, “Our community centers are always a great place for youth to spend time when school is out of session, and we’re pleased to offer these winter break activities, enhanced this year through our partnership with the Fund for the Arts.”

All community centers will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
