LOUISVILLE, KY, DECEMBER 21, 2016- Fund for the Arts is proud to announce its partnership with the Miss Kentucky’s Outstanding Teen Scholarship Program. Miss Kentucky’s Outstanding Teen (MKYOT), Chapel Tinius, will serve as an arts ambassador for Fund for the Arts during her term as MKYOT. This partnership will emphasize the essential need for greater arts education throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
The Miss Kentucky’s Outstanding Teen Scholarship Program and Fund for the Arts will collaborate in an effort to create more opportunity for the students of Kentucky through the arts. Both organizations are fully committed to providing the resources necessary to develop the next generation of outstanding leaders.
“I believe that the arts are an important source of the 21st century skills needed to succeed in today’s society,” said Chapel Tinius. “These 21st century skills include critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and confidence. I have had the privilege to develop these skills through my involvement in theatre and music. What’s more, I performed a fiddle and vocal medley for the talent portion of my MKYOT competition in June.”
Fund for the Arts supports the development of 21st century skills through funding of arts initiatives for young people in our community. They have created over 400,000 transformative arts experiences annually for students in Kentucky and Southern Indiana. These 21st century skills allow students to be more successful in their chosen profession and create more innovation throughout our community. Fund for the Arts also supports the annual Scholastic Arts Awards, as well as offering scholarship and award opportunities, including the William Tolbert Whittenberg Scholarship.
“We are so excited about the partnership between the Miss Kentucky’s Outstanding Teen Scholarship Program and Fund for the Arts. Our Organization is about empowering young women, through pageantry, to develop the leadership skills, confidence and network to achieve their biggest goals in life. Our mission is in perfect alignment with the work that Fund for the Arts does across the Commonwealth and we couldn’t be happier to join forces!” Dr. Ashley D. Miller, Executive Director, Miss Kentucky’s Outstanding Teen Scholarship Program, said. “Arts exposure and participation is instrumental to the development of our next generation of leaders and we’re thrilled to combine our platform with theirs to make a greater impact.”
