What is the Fund for the Arts Event Artist Application?
Submitting yourself or your organization for the Event Artist Application creates a roster featuring artists and organizations of various disciplines who wish to perform or activate audiences as part of community events, hosted in partnership with Fund for the Arts.
Note: If you have already submitted to the Teaching Artist Directory, this is a separate opportunity. You are welcome and encouraged to submit for both.
What is the goal of the Event Artist Application?
The application’s goal is to create a living roster of artists and organizations interested in being part of community events where they will represent themselves and the Fund for the Arts.
Events may vary: some will be large, free community events like the St. James Court Art Show in Old Louisville, while others will be private performances and activations done as part of Fund for the Arts workplace campaign presentations throughout the year.
Unless the work you plan on sharing has changed, there is no need to apply yearly or more than once.
Rolling Application and Deadlines:
The Event Artist Application is always open. To be considered for involvement with the following 2024 events, please apply by July 15, 2024:
Celebration of the Arts (September 28, 2024)
St. James Court Art Show (October 4 – 6, 2024)
Who may submit?

Applicants may submit proposals as an individual, a collective of artists, a group or organization without tax-exempt status, or as a nonprofit organization.
Applicants must share Fund for the Arts’ commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Those who submit should provide arts programming that aligns with at least one of the following artistic areas: dance, design, folk & traditional arts, literary arts, media arts, arts museums, music, musical theater, opera, presenting & multidisciplinary arts, theater, visual arts”
Applicants must apply on their own behalf, with their own work samples, and cannot subcontract another artist in their stead.
Is there funding available?
All artists and organizations contracted to participate in an event will be compensated.
In the past, compensation has ranged between $100 – $500. Length of engagement has ranged from 10 minutes to an hour.
Compensation will be based on the type and length of the event in which they are participating.
Compensation is designated to the primary applicant only, and each offering can include only one primary applicant. If compensation is to be shared between multiple artists or organizations, that designation will fall to the artists/organizations themselves.
