We are excited to welcome submissions for the City of Artists logo competition. City of Artists is a Fund for the Arts initiative to empower everyone in the Greater Louisville area to embrace the art that exists in their lives every day, and to share with the rest of the world that Louisville is a place where you can make a life in art–no matter what you do for a living.
This logo should be inspired by the artistry that makes Louisville unique and work well alongside the traditional Fund for the Arts branding.
Submission Details:
- Submissions are due by 11:59 pm EST on July 14, 2023.
- Submissions must include:
- Brand attributes
- Finalized logo in color and greyscale
- Color scheme palette
- Typography: header, sub-header, and body
- Artist/Designer’s resumé or link to professional website
- Submissions that do not include all of the above will not be considered
- Materials can be submitted in the digital form you feel best encapsulates them (presentation deck, video, photographs, website, etc.

Winning Details:
- Three finalists will be chosen and notified by August 9, 2023.
- Finalists awarded tickets to the Celebration of the Arts event on September 9, 2023, where the winner will be publicly announced and the logo presented.
- Fund for the Arts will use the winner’s design for at least the next 3 years.
- Winner will receive a $1250 prize and a $1250 annual payment for the rights and usage of their artwork over the course of 3 years + 5% of all net proceeds from merchandise using the branding.
- Winner will help to develop and expand the brand kit for the City of Artists identity.
- First and second runners up will receive a one-time $450 cash prize.
- Winners and runners up will be determined by an adjudication panel developed by Fund for the Arts.
Who can apply?
- Must be a freelance or independent artist
- Must be a resident of the Greater Louisville area (includes Jefferson, Bullitt, Oldham, KY and Clark, Harrison, Floyd, IN)
- Must be 18 years or older
- May be a visual artist of any media; knowledge of graphic design is preferred
- May be an under/graduate student
- CANNOT apply as part of a larger design or marketing agency
