Take your pick: Ballet, Bacon Ball, Bob at Actors Theatre or Sesame Street Live at the Brown Theatre. There’s something for everyone this weekend and don’t forget your $10 ArtsRush! tickets available two hours before tonight’s (and Saturday’s) Louisville Ballet performance at the Kentucky Center. And what a treat it will be! It’s a “3-be” with Adam Hougland’s Rite of Spring set to Stravinsky, Kingdom of Shades about a man in India ordered to marry one woman yet dreams of another. Followed by Troy Game, the most amazing 23 minutes of athletic endurance ever seen on the stage in this super-charged all male ballet performed to Brazilian music!
Maybe you’re in the mood to do a little booty shakin’ of your own. Come on down to the historic Louisville Water Tower for the Bacon Ball celebrating the opening of Louisville Visual Art Association’s new 2,500 sqft. terrace on the banks of the Ohio River. Music, food, drinks, and lots of bacon goin’ on! Saturday, April 9th from 6-10pm. Click here for tickets.
If White Castles are more your style, then never fear, Actors Theatre has cooked up all the “White Castle moments” you’ll ever need in Bob. We’ve all had them. I’m not kidding! My first art experience was accompanied by two White Castles and a Coke at the corner of Bardstown Road and Eastern Parkway when I was six years old. My piano lessons were in the Shuster building above the Uptown Theater and taught by Marcella Johnson. Each week, after my $3 thirty-minute lesson, I would proceed to White Castle with the quarter my mother had given me and the rest is history! Time really does fly. It seems just like yesterday that I would then find my way to Zayre’s at Mid-City Mall to ask for my mother to be paged as I waited at the customer service desk.
Let’s get our start on Broadway at the Brown, theatre that is, with Sesame Street Live and Elmo’s Green Thumb. Treat a child or treat yourself to another childhood memory that will last a lifetime. Click here for ticket information. See you there and let me know how it went! Send photos for our traveling slide show – click here and see if you know anyone.
2gether, through the Arts, we create a GREAT AMERICAN CITY!
