“I have a dream, like many other young aspiring performers, of performing at the Metropolitan Opera or in Carnegie Hall someday. This is an ambitious dream to have and I realize it may never come true, but I would be greatly content singing in nearly any venue, as long as I have the chance to perform.”
This is the opening sentence of an email we received seven years ago from Mary Hollis Hundley who was looking for a little help to make her dreams come true. And thanks to Joan Whittenberg and the William Tolbert Whittenberg Scholarship for Excellence, we were able to offer Mary Hollis a first step on her journey. In fact, 32 talented actors, singers, dancers and musicians have started their journey since 1989, thanks to the generosity of Joan Whittenberg. Today we are thrilled to announce two new names on that distinguished list of winners.
