Louisville’s Awards in the Arts celebrates the extraordinary arts community in the Greater Louisville region and the arts’ tremendous contribution to our unique cultural landscape and quality of place. But most of all, Louisville’s Awards in the Arts were established to celebrate the artists themselves, their talent and passion, to create, produce and present transformative and inspiring works of arts, in and for our community. Winners are recognized in a special presentation at Churchill Downs in the historic Winner’s Circle, receiving a beautiful trophy and cash award. Winners are also recognized and highlighted throughout the month of April through our media partners.
Louisville’s Awards in the Arts will be presented at Churchill Downs on April 25, 2019.
Who may be nominated?
Awards recognize individuals and organizations. See below for the various categories.
Nominate an Individual
Individuals may be nominated for the following awards:
- Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes an individual artist, performer, or craftsman who has demonstrated lifetime achievement in the arts in Greater Louisville. Nominees should be from Greater Louisville, live in Greater Louisville, or have lived a significant portion of his/her life working in Greater Louisville.
- Emerging Leader Award recognizes an individual artist, performer, or craftsman who is excelling in his/her discipline early in his/her career. The nominee must be 40 years old or younger. Nominees should be from Greater Louisville, live in Greater Louisville, or have lived a significant portion of his/her life working in Greater Louisville.
- National Arts Advocacy Award recognizes an outstanding advocate who is championing the arts nationally.
- National Award recognizes an individual artist, performer, or craftsman who has achieved national prominence for his/her work. Nominees should be from Greater Louisville, live in Greater Louisville, or have lived a significant portion of his/her life working in Greater Louisville.
- Cultural Equity Award in Corporate Product and Service recognizes an individual or organization that has exemplified outstanding achievement in advancing diversity in the arts and business, with a product or service that has positively impacted the community. Individual nominees should be from Greater Louisville, live in Greater Louisville, or have lived a significant portion of his/her life working in Greater Louisville. Organization nominees must be located in Greater Louisville.
Nominate an Individual or an Organization
Individuals or organizations may be nominated for the following awards:
- Arts Impact Award recognizes an individual or organization who has created significant impact in the community through the arts. The impact could be wide (reaching a great number of people) or deep (reaching a small number of people more regularly). Individual nominees should be from Greater Louisville, live in Greater Louisville, or have lived a significant portion of his/her life working in Greater Louisville. Organization nominees must be located in Greater Louisville.
- Arts Innovation Award recognizes an individual or organization who is fueling innovative work in the arts. Individual nominees should be from Greater Louisville, live in Greater Louisville, or have lived a significant portion of his/her life working in Greater Louisville. Organization nominees must be located in Greater Louisville.
- Arts Education Award recognizes an individual or organization who is helping to educate and inspire Greater Louisville’s children through the arts. Individual nominees should be from Greater Louisville, live in Greater Louisville, or have lived a significant portion of his/her life working in Greater Louisville. Organization nominees must be located in Greater Louisville.
Deadline to Submit Nominations
Nominations must be submitted no later than 11:59 p.m. EST, January 31, 2020.
Selected nominees will be notified by early March 2020.

Please note that if you have submitted a nomination in past years, and the nominee was not selected for an award, you must submit a new nomination form each year for the nominee to be considered for the award.
