DramaWorks classes encourage students of all ages to explore and practice the fundamentals-and the fun- of drama. Stage One Family Theatre’s professional artists/educators provide active ways to encourage imaginative thinking, effective communication and positive collaboration.

Happily Ever After: Knights and Princesses

Wouldn’t it be fun to be Snow White or even as fancy as Nancy? This is your chance! This week-long camp will use popular children’s literature and original stories created by students! What stories in your imagination are just itching to come to life?

Around the World in… 5 Days!

Travel around the world to a different location every day of the week. Throw a St. Patrick’s Day parade in Ireland, and hike through the outback in Australia. Learn about other traditions and cultures as you help your tour guides solve the problem at hand before returning to Louisville!

Detectives and Spies

Become a secret agent! Meet with other gumshoes at spy headquarters, complete detective training, and receive an official investigator badge! Using body, voice, and imagination, get your first assignment and follow the clues to close the case!

Join Stage One Family Theatre for a three-week intensive performance workshop for students ages 8-11. In addition to taking classes in acting, movement, and voice, participants will audition for, rehearse, and perform in Disney’s Aladdin KIDS.

Acting: Improvisation

Explore the role of the actor in this week-long intensive program that uses improvisation and drama games to teach character creation, expression, verbal and non-verbal acting techniques and stage presence. The stage awaits, so come steal the show!

Movie Magic!
FULL DAY CAMP

Lights! Camera! Action! Explore both sides of the camera and film as a storytelling medium in this week-long, full-day camp. As both actor and director, take a story from the storyboard to the screen while learning important acting and filmmaking techniques. Who knows, maybe you’ll give Spielberg a run for his money!

Physical Comedy and Combat

Explore the comedic style of slap stick, and stage combat, while integrating characterization to create the physical harmony of a well rounded performer. This class will incorporate spatial awareness and timing to combine a safe and believable theatrical fight scene.

This two-week camp is designed as an in-depth look at the techniques of singing, dancing and acting used in musical theatre. Our ensemble approach nurtures collaboration, confidence, and skill development, while exploring the exciting songs and stories from musicals past and present. We combine our instruction with a rehearsal process culminating in an open-classroom musical presentation.
