Now this is what I call a car show! Visit the Kentucky Museum of Art and Crafts this weekend for an event that the whole family can enjoy!
Thursday, August 4th: At 7 p.m., a drive-in movie featuring art car movie shorts with radio-transmitted sound and a concession stand at Louisville’s Waterfront Wharf, next to Joe’s Crab Shack.
Friday, August 5th: Art cars on display in the 700 and 800 blocks of West Main Street from 9 a.m. until an illuminated art car parade to Lynn’s Paradise Cafe at 9 p.m.! The day-long block party includes artist demonstrations; exhibitions (including a display of 100 art car hubcaps); the First Friday Trolley Hop, and much more!
Saturday, August 6th: The block party continues at 9 a.m. on West Main Street with a voting contest for the favorite art car, a drop-in workshop for youngsters, and a lunchtime lecture by art car artist C. M. Laster. At 2:30, the art cars embark on a parade to Crescent Hill along Frankfort Avenue. The parade culminates in a parking lot near the Crescent Hill Library, where the public can meet the artists, purchase artwork, and enjoy the afternoon. From 6 p.m.-9 p.m., a Barn Dance with live music will take place in the parking lot–a great time to shake off the dust and enjoy local art and music!
