Initiated through the Alfred P. Gerriets Hope Initiative, the Urban Arts Collaborative is a grant and shared service program developed to support grass roots arts organizations providing arts training primarily to at-risk youth. The Urban Arts Collaborative is designed to build capacity and sustainability through monetary and non-monetary support for arts organizations serving the target population.

The objectives of the Urban Arts Collaborative include:

  • Higher rates of participating youth graduating high school
  • Higher rates of participating youth attending college or achieving job placement
  • Higher rates of participating youth reading at grade level
  • Higher self-confidence and optimism for their own future.
  • Increased organizational capacity of participating organizations.

River City Drum Corp, La’Nita Rocknettes School of Dance, and West Louisville Performing Arts Academy are participating in the Urban Arts Collaborative’s inaugural year.
